Matt has completely changed my expectations about what is possible – especially about what is possible at 59 years old. Since I started training with him 18 months ago, extraordinary things have happened! His approach has helped me realise how much what is happening mentally and emotionally impacts what’s going on in my body and on what I’m capable of in any given moment. His knowledge and insight are phenomenal. His training sessions are inspirational.
Matt has an amazing ability at getting the most out of you without seeming to put you under undue pressure. Targeted to my individual strengths, Matt gave me the tools and mental discipline to stretch myself more than I would have imagined just a few years ago. He has a personal and holistic approach, tailoring each session to exactly what is needed on the day, sometimes just from a short chat, combining his knowledge of how the body and mind work together.
I initially started with Matt with zoom based group sessions, first with Kettlebells, adding the Mace and more recently in person with Hybrid Strength Workshops.
He has developed my level of skill from complete novice to a place that I am comfortable with what I have learned and confident in my own abilities, all done via zoom and a laptop. With a teaching style that is patient, knowledgeable and approachable. Not forgetting having a healthy sense of humour! The fundamentals that he has taught has allowed me to draw on them, sometimes without realising, in other aspects of my training. Time truly flies during these sessions!
I have attended Matt Shore’s hybrid strongman/strongwoman workshops, kettlebell and mace bell sessions. Matt teaches in a friendly relaxed manor to make everyone feel welcome. He has so much knowledge to share and always gauges it just right to work you hard but without sacrificing good technique.

I met Matt over a year ago and my knowledge, strength and confidence has come leaps and bounds.
I’ve done a couple of Hybrid StongMan/Woman with Matt and hand on heart I loved every minute of it. They are always fun, tough and challenging 3 words that do not belong together but they do!
Most recently, during lockdown I have been doing online Macebell webinars with Matt… and OMG I love it!! With Matt’s encouragement and guidance, I have progressed, quicker than I thought possible, in weight, and now regularly practice and use macebell workout in my programmes.
Matt is truly inspiring!
After a number of years where I had gained weight, lost physical condition and a disciplined mindset I was slowly trying to build some momentum in tackling these issues. I had a subconscious desire and feeling that I needed guidance in achieving this and by good fortune I discovered Matt via his Instagram account. I felt an instant connection with him and his work as a coach and PT from his posts and videos, where his training with kettlebells, macebells and other methods really intrigued and excited me. At the same time I undertook remote coaching and programming with him and tried one of his mace bell webinars. On both fronts I was instantly hooked and impressed! After a detailed initial process of finding out about my goals, current capabilities and history he set about easing me into a bespoke programme of physical training. From the start this was done in an open and honest way, not only explaining the ‘what’, but the ‘why’. In the 5 months we have now been working together I have experienced genuine positive change! I have lost 18kg in body fat and my physical capabilities are going from strength to strength. Last year, I was intermittently training with an 8kg kettlebell and struggling to do a TGU with it! I now comfortably use a 24kg kettlebell and will go on to achieve my goals of using 32kg and beyond! I have also found a deep love of training with the macebell, learning this and increasing in competence via Matt’s regular web classes. I urge anyone and everyone to try this, and learn from Matt, the macebell Ninja himself!
However, critical to all of this has been the way Matt programs my training and conveys the intention and purpose of it. Instruction and detail are clear and concise and questions are always answered promptly. I am also always impressed with his intuition and sixth sense when I’ve struggled with a minor niggle and how to manage it and recover. Previously, I would crack on often making things worse and ending up taking long breaks from exercise. But Matt has educated me in listening to my body and he guides my training to enable recovery and still maintain progress. It’s clear to me that Matt is a knowledgeable and experienced coach and PT, but it goes beyond that; he is passionate and dedicated to his craft in a way that he demonstrates through action. His own achievements are inspiring and contribute to cultivating in me a desire and enjoyment to take action and do the work! I now genuinely love to train purely for the joy of it, and this has to be credited to Matt. I’m truly grateful to have him guiding and supporting me in my ambitions.
I have been working with Matt for pretty much one year now, and can safely say I wouldn’t have made it through lockdown without his training, guidance and support.
I knew Matt from attending his Strongman workshops, and so began remote coaching with him to help me start running again.
The journey has been soo much more than running, but shifting my mindset from negative thoughts and preconceived ideas, that I held onto from previous experiences.
Even coming out of this year, I am in a much stronger place mentally and physically through training with Matt, onwards and upwards
I first met matt in early 2019 when I joined the outdoor group classes he was running at the time. At that point I had not trained seriously for nearly a decade. I had gained weight and felt very unfit. These classes inspired me to work out more regularly and in the year that followed my fitness improved greatly. In May of 2020 after a brief period of 1-2-1 personal training sessions with matt that yielded some impressive results I decided to put my training in matt’s hands. He has now been coaching me remotely for five months. Matt provides truly personalised programming tailored to the goals that I have set for myself. His knowledge and experience shines through in his programming where workouts are varied and never become monotonous. The results have been astonishing in such a short space of time. Pb’s have been smashed on a regular basis and I feel fitter and stronger than I have ever been. Matt has provided superb support throughout and through regular strategy phone calls and feedback through the coaching platform I have a routine that works around my busy schedule that is both targeted and highly effective. I have also been learning to use macebells via Matts online webinars which have been very affective. In a short space of time I have gained confidence and strength in this great training modality which I’m sure will feature in my training for years to come. Every webinar sees you learning new skills and practicing and improving form and strength in exercises already learnt and I always come away feeling inspired to learn more.
I’ve known Matt for about 10 years and over that time he has given me advice on how to run my own Personal Training business as well as help me develop my technique with various exercises and movement patterns. He’s played a huge part in where my business is today and will continue to be a mentor to me.
I’ve been doing remote coaching with Matt for over a year now and can’t imagine ever stopping! When I started with Matt I was suffering from multiple injuries and now I’m injury free and it feels amazing. At 46 I have become the fittest and strongest version of myself. I now ‘feel’ like a runner and I can lift a 92kg kettlebell off the ground with one hand.
I love not having to think about what training I need to do, all I need to do is login to TrueCoach (the training app) and my workouts will be planned for the week ahead. Each exercise has a video and accompanying notes to explain. If you aren’t sure of your technique all you need to do is take a video on your smartphone and load it into the app and Matt will then provide feedback. It’s so simple yet so effective.
At the end of the Summer I was in need of an escape to the mountains and asked Matt if he would guide me on a one day adventure in Snowdonia. I’m not confident to go to the mountains on my own so needed the help of a Mountain guide like Matt. That day, Matt pushed me out of my comfort zone and we climbed two mountains, something I’d never done before. It was a truly memorable day and just what I needed after going through several months of restrictions due to Covid.
Before I started working with Matt I thought I was fairly healthy for my 59 years.
I walked my dogs every day and did a bit of yoga twice a week. Then I signed up with Matt and realised just how unfit I was .
Since working with Matt not only have I lost weight my body shape has changed and I am more toned and Flexible.
Matt is a great motivator and is able to help you push yourself further than you think you can go. He is very knowledgeable about the body and how to create and personalise sessions to fit the goals you want to achieve, even if you are not sure what you want!
Now I am a fabulous, fit and healthy at 60 with so much more confidence and energy!
I first got to know Matt from group bootcamp where I was introduced to the likes of kettlebells, slam balls and heavy bags. But it was Matt’s individual approach to training even within group sessions that inspired me to sign up for 1:1 training. Since working with Matt I have gained all round strength and stability and am more in tune with my body. As with most people I still get occasional niggles and pains but no longer let these take hold. This stability has also enabled me to develop my running and Matt created a plan to work towards running greater distances easily. I am fitter and stronger than I was 20 years ago, which gives me confidence and pride in my achievement.
I have been working with Matt for almost five years as my Personal trainer, attending group sessions but with the majority of my training on a 1-2-1 level – and I cannot over emphasise just how grateful I am for Matt being a part of my Wellness Journey.
Matt was recommended to me as a Strong First coach when I set out to take my kettlebell qualification…..unfortunately I didn’t accomplish that goal as I entered into an extended period of strengthening a weakened abdominal structure. Matt has been a pillar of strength and support through that process and given how far I have come – who’s to say I won’t yet achieve that goal under his excellent guidance and supervision.
Matt’s characteristics have shone through as a first class trainer, to a level far beyond my expectations…..his knowledge and expertise in general movement and all things ‘strength’ are second to none. His attention to detail on ‘how to move correctly’ is so rewarding for a perfectionist like me, and his support on a spiritual level is incredible, Matt has unbelievable awareness for how his clients ‘feel’ on any given day, and always pushes to find the safest way to get the best out of every session.
A training session under Matt’s supervision is a first class experience……you will come across every exercise modality – flexibility and mobility are an important start to each session, along with the inclusion of both cardiovascular and strength training. Working with Matt introduces you to so many options each session, you regularly utilise body weight, but there is a plethora of equipment ready to challenge your mind and body. I have enjoyed the experiences of learning so many new techniques involved in training with kettlebells, maces, Bulgarian bags, sandbags, slam balls, TRX, battle ropes and so much more.
I am also happy to have been able to experience Matt’s guidance as a Mountain leader – I attempted my first ever climb up Mount Snowden on one of Matt’s weekend trips, something I would never have contemplated if I hadn’t been exposed to Matt’s passion and enthusiasm for mountains and outdoor life. I have to admit the trip challenged me immensely and pushed me well out of my comfort zone……but Matt was there every step of the way – pushing me through the pain and discomfort, and never once giving upon me. It is an experience I will never forget – and a privilege to have shared that with someone who is SO passionate about mountain life and helping others experience it too.
To conclude, I am delighted that as I hit my mid-fifties, I am in great shape, confident about my body, training 4 to 5 time’s per week, playing golf regularly and happily swinging a 24kg kettlebell, along with a very comfortable 20Kg kettlebell Turkish Getup on both sides. I have fallen in love with the Mace and regularly swing or flow with 5 and 7.5kg maces. I cannot ever imagine being where I am today without the support and guidance from Matt, and I look forward to sharing many more sessions moving forward.
I first saw Matt in action ten years ago!
I was running through the park – he was coaching a group there, and I witnessed his light, that shone bright.
I had heard all about him, he was already well known for his expertise and specialised training methods.
We met soon after that, and soon I asked him to coach me too… I had a weak left side that needed to be strong again, and I wanted to learn to jump like I could before – for my movement to be agile and flexible…
We worked together and before too long I was leaping high (for me!) onto a 24 inch box and feeling balanced and strong!
I then became a nomad and set off for years years to lands afar…
But a year or so ago I returned and once more asked Matt for his guidance. This time, inspired by one of his other clients who I had seen squat 32k 10 x 10 times! I thought it would be fun to aim for this… Oh – and to learn to handstand again too – and jump and bound about!
I have been on planet earth sixty one years, and my aim is to stay agile and strong and able to leap and jump – and handstand too!
So – I did 10 x 10 squats at 28k and I can stand on my hands for a few seconds now…
And most importantly I love training with Matt!
He is brilliant! Intuitive and sensitive to the needs of all of his clients – and every single session is fun!

I’ve run further than I ever dreamed I’d run. Over 11 months, I went from running 15 miles over 7 days to running 48 miles in 4 days – my 60th birthday challenge. I’m stronger than I ever imagined I could be. A few months ago, I was squatting with a 14kg kettlebell. Now I’m using one weighing 24kg. And if all that sounds like hard work, it was. But Matt made it fun too.
